Foundation of Buddhist Thought - Campus Course 2008

Taught successfully at Jamyang Buddhist Centre in London, Leeds, Norwich,
France and Spain, and as a correspondence course for the past 8 years, the course is now being offered at Jamyang Buddhist Centre in London, accompanied by Geshe Tashi’s newly published course books, in a new 1-year format.

The Foundation of Buddhist Thought provides a thorough theoretical and practical grounding in Tibetan Buddhism.  A unique opportunity to work with Geshe Tashi on his newly published books that  accompany the course. The six modules are: The Four Noble Truths, Relative and Ultimate Truth, Buddhist Psychology, The Awakening Mind (Bodhichitta), Emptiness, and Tantra.

Suitable for all who have some familiarity with basic Buddhism, for example those who have done the FPMT’s “Discovering Buddhism” course, or similar. Also suitable for those who have completed the course before (campus or online), and would like to study the material again.

Structure:
The course consists of six modules spread over one year. Students attend 7 tuesdays plus a weekend per module; with a 2-week break in between. The only exception is the last module where students will attend 5 weekdays, plus 2 weekends. In order to receive a certificate you must complete all the reading and written assignments, and undertake an exam for each module. Each module will consist of 20 hours of teachings (the same amount as the 2 year format), plus meditations and discussion.

Suggested Donation per Module:

Monthly Standing order starting September 2008 ending August 2009 with books: £70 ( £50)

We will add your donation to the Sangha fund and for each £360 accrued we will be able to offer the entire course for free to a member of the Sangha.

Registration:
You are required to register for the whole year, and will not be able to join once the course has started.
