Official Birthday of His Holiness the Dalai Lama

6th of July
Lama Chopa Puja
7.30pm

Celebrate the official birthday of His Holiness the Dalai Lama with us on 6 July with a Lama Chopa puja.   His Holiness the Dalai Lama works tirelessly for the Tibetan cause, for peace and harmony in the world and for the proper understanding and practice of Buddhism.  The lama chopa is a ceremony held two times a month where we honour and celebrate the lives and achievements of our teachers and gurus and celebrate our good fortune in meeting them.

Jamyang London has openly supported His Holiness the Dalai Lama for many years and follows his advice, as does the organisation we are affiliated to the Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition.  Many people connected with this Buddhist Centre have heard him teach and taken tantric initiation from him at his various teachings throughout the world.  Take this time to honour our most tireless, kind and inspiring teacher and tantra guru.

Please feel free to bring flowers or food (vegetarian) that can be shared during the puja.

The Jamyang Walk

Saturday 17 Julypark walk

Meet at Victoria Railway station ticket office at 10am, with tickets already purchased for the 10:13am train
10am - 6pm (or there abouts)

Join us for our summer walk to the beautiful Darent Valley in Kent.

This corner of Kent offers many attractions ~ hop and lavendar fields ~ a roman villa ~ Lullingstone Castle and the pretty villages of Eynsford and Shoreham ~ riverside, hilltop and wooded paths and ideal spots for a picnic or pub lunch.  (bring your own grub ~ or there will be time for bar food in a local pub).

PLEASE NOTE THERE ARE TWO OPTIONS FOR THE WALK

1.  A circular walk of approximately 10 miles to and from Eynsford (this will require a return ticket to Eynsford).

2.  A linear walk of approximately 5 miles starting from Eynsford and returning to London from Shoreham (this will require a single to Eynsford and a separate single from Shoreham).

3.  Not sure which one to do until the day? (this will require a return to Shoreham).
When you decide which walk you want to do please purchase your train tickets accordingly.

MEET UP AT VICTORIA RAILWAY STATION TICKET OFFICE AT AROUND 10 AM to be ready to catch the 10:13 train to Eynsford
(you can also join the same train at Demmark Hill at 10.22am, Peckham Rye at 10.25am).

Please be sure to leave enough time to queue for tickets before meeting up, as it will be busy on a Saturday.
You could try purchasing tickets in advance on line.  Also group travel options - if there are three or more travelling to the same destination you can get tickets for the price of two adults.
You must all be clear that you wish to do the same choice of walk, or simply buy a return to Shoreham which covers either walk option.

Any queries call Robin Bath on 020 7736 2771

Jamyang Dharma Friends

Sunday 25 July

JDF - cultivating the lotus in London

Jamyang's Dharma Friends ('JDF') is a new idea developed by Jamyang-s student support group. It is an invitation to people who are trying to cultivate Buddhist wisdom and teachings in their lives to come together to share insight and to inspire and support each other on the path. This is an experimental space and while there will be some structure provided in order to facilitate the afternoon, the aim will be for the group to develop its own direction, interests and activities over time. If you want to go deeper in your own practice by responding creatively to the challenges of life in Greater London and the commuter belt and are willing to share, explore, play and learn as part of a group please come.

We can use meditation to motivate ourselves for the day ahead, bring focus and energizing clarity into our lives, and to relax and regroup from the stresses and strains of our lives.

New to the Summer and Autumn programmes and building on the interest in meditation shown by the people who came on the Tuesday and Thursday mornings as an experiment we are offering mediation on Wednesdays mornings and lunchtimes for early birds, city workers, busy parents with kids and carers with limited time to get away.  So if you live or work near or around Kennington or the Elephant and Castle why not take forty minutes once a week to energise and relax in the morning or at lunchtime

Gerry Cummins is a Buddhist member of the Jamyang community who works as a yoga teacher and bodywork therapist.
