Retreat is the best way to get a deeper understanding of Buddhist practice and to let its life changing and life enhancing spirit seep into your daily life. Retreat means taking time out from the usual routines, interactions and demands of our daily life to focus on and get a heart understanding of whatever it is we wish to get more familiar with. It also gives us the free time to face up and process past hurts or mistakes and to start dealing with and moving on from them. Retreat is valued in all traditions of Buddhism.
Recently Kabje Lama Zopsa Rinpoche our founding father and head of the FPMT has strongly re-emphasised his advice that it is most important to study and meditate on the Lam Rim (Graded Path to Enlightenment) and to get realisations.
The Graded Path mediations are a series of meditations designed to bring about changes in our lives to help us to bring meaning to our lives, to move on from unhelpful repetitive obsessive behaviours and to unleash the strength, compassionate love and understanding that benefits people around us as well as ourselves.
