Accommodation

The former cells of the Old Courthouse have been transformed into small single bedrooms which are available for visitors for short periods. Normally we have only three or four cells available for guests, so please book well in advance.

The current price of £25 (£15 for Friends of Jamyang) includes breakfast.

As a Buddhist centre, we expect visitors to abide by five main rules:

    * No killing (including animals)
    * No stealing
    * No lying
    * No alcohol or drugs
    * No sexual activity

Please arrive during normal opening hours of the centre:
* Monday to Thursday: 2 pm - 6 pm. Evening classes usually from 7.30 pm to 9.00pm
* Friday: closed except for pujas and special events
* Saturday and Sunday: open as listed in the programme, times may vary

The cells
The cells are small (approximately 7.5 ft by 5 ft), warm and private. Bedding and towel are provided.

The facilities
Guests use a shared bathroom and a fully equipped kitchen. The room rate includes self-service continental breakfast in the kitchen. Guests are free to use the Shrine Room and Library.  We don’t offer a laundry facility, but there is a launderette nearby, and a phone box just outside the centre.

Cancellation
We require 24 hours’ notice of cancellation.

Checking in
Please check in between 2-6 pm. If this isn’t possible we will need advance warning to ensure there is someone on duty to greet you, so let us know your estimated time of arrival in advance. Once you have checked in, you’ll have your own keys.  Please pay in full when you arrive.

Checking out
Before 11am on the day of departure.

    Where to find us

Conduct at Jamyang
Guests are asked to observe and refrain from killing, lying, stealing, any form of sexual activity, and taking intoxicants (alcohol or drugs).  The building is a no-smoking area.  One of the cellblock's functions is to provide retreat space, so we need you to be as quiet and considerate as possible, and in particular not to listen to music except through headphones and in private.

The maximum duration of your stay is one week. Unfortunately we can’t accommodate children under 16.

Please confirm your stay with a member of office staff and send 50% of the cost of your stay as a deposit by cheque or pay by card with the office.
